Archive: 2016 6th Annual Conference

TESOL Sudan is pleased to announce the organization of its 6th annual conference under the theme of: ELT in Sudan and Expatriate Teachers: From Brain Drain to Brain Gain. The conference will be held at Ahfad University for Women in Omdurman, Sudan on July 23, 2016. The Proposals Committee invites you to submit a proposal for presentation which addresses the main theme of the conference. We are interested in submissions that address the effects of brain drain on the ELT profession in Sudan and how expatriate teachers can help bridge the gap. Submissions that address the conference's sub-themes will also be considered.

The brain drain is and has been a serious problem plaguing not only ELT but also other professions in Sudan. While it is not feasible to stop the brain drain, the aim of the conference is to facilitate a dialogue among expatriate and local teachers and scholars in order to explore ways of collaboration. There are multiple ways in which the expatriate teacher could contribute to the professional development of local teachers and learners of English and an organization of such an event is a case in point. Therefore, we invite all national expatriate teachers and scholars to attend and submit presentations for the conference in order to initiate and sustain a professional dialogue around the topic.
